Innovation fireworks from the Far East! With the XTR M9100, Shimano presents its most versatile MTB group. While the first generations of the XT racing groups were developed for the needs of XC racers, the term MTB racing is now much more diverse.

At first glance, the BL-M9120 Servo-Wave brake lever has hardly changed from its predecessor. From a technical point of view, the master piston and the mechanics were largely adopted from the M9020. However, the suspension of the lever has been fundamentally revised. The wider clamp in the middle of the lever not only creates more space for attaching remote levers, it also offers significantly more rigidity. In combination with a support for the master piston on the handlebar, the brake lever offers a significantly more direct braking experience. According to Shimano, this type of construction increased stiffness and braking force by 10% and a 30% faster response. The reach of the lever can be adjusted without tools for optimum accessibility.

A revised piping system and the use of magnesium (housing) kept the weight low. The 4-piston caliper of the M9120 has a one-piece aluminum design, which has better thermal properties than magnesium.
