Hub bearing press tools are used to remove and install wheel bearings and hubs, and their usage involves using different-sized cups, plates, and a forcing screw or threaded rod to apply pressure safely. To remove a bearing, a cup is placed on the outside of the bearing, a plate on the inside, and a forcing screw pushes them apart.
To install, the new bearing is pressed into the knuckle using a cup that supports only the outer race, and then the hub is pressed into the inner race using a separate plate or tool that pushes only on the inner race.
